Both Fenders were lighter, "cooler", snapping together like a suitcase. As opposed to this item which is larger and much heavier, and all around old school.
What saved me from buying the Fenders for a lot more money were the delivery options. Only offered by other non-Amazon sellers regular delivery was too long and speedier delivery an extra 100! - Meanwhile this amp via Prime would get here in 2 Prime "free" days.
By the way, assume this comes with *no* speaker cables (it does) and you'll be happier for it.
The included cables are thread thin (20 gauge?) and because of them I almost returned this amp.
In my initial test I plugged in a Numark iDJ iPod 2 Channel Mixer http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CIONBC and I could hardly get any sound at all.
I'm *not* exaggerating: I cranked up everything on max and after walking to each speaker and putting my ear to the speakers all I heard was a faint fuzzy sound.
Since I was skeptical of this system from the get go, and it didn't say anything about speaker cables, I ordered two 12 gauge professional speaker cables Pyle-Pro PPJJ15 Professional Speaker Cable (12 Gauge, 1/4'' to 1/4'', 15 ft.) What a life saver that was.
I powered down everything and replaced the original speaker cables with the PPJJ15s without resetting the volume & gain controls.
W O W!
Besides almost killing the cat (who jumped a foot or two in the air) and making me deaf, it was clear the problem was the speaker cables, not the amp.
All in all so far (3 days) it's been a good purchase. Everything is covered in band-amp grey felt. Solid rubber feet. The amp itself is heavier than the speakers. Feels like it has a couple of bricks inside.
All 3 pieces have carrying straps on top. The sound for the money is loud, clear and with the Pro speaker wires pretty clean.
I did have to plug the Numan to the Tape-In sockets to get the right gain.
All in all this turned out to save me a fair amount of money.
The sound from the 10 inch woofers is really rich.
Even at low volumes the sound travels all around.
Just do yourself a favor and order the pro speaker wires. Without them I would had to figure out how to return a 75 pound system.
Even after the amp dies I intend to keep the cables around for ever.
My fear? Will the amp quit working...
